Titi Ogunbanjo, the wife of the late former group chairman of the Nigeria Exchange (NGX) Group, Abimbola Ogunbanjo, finds herself engulfed in sorrow as she commemorates her birthday amidst the tragic loss of her husband.
Although Mrs. Ogunbanjo marks another year of life on this Monday, the recent passing of her husband in a helicopter crash on February 9 in the United States casts a somber shadow over any celebration plans for the family.
Abimbola Ogunbanjo, along with the chief executive officer of Access Holdings, Herbert Wigwe, Chizoba Wigwe (Wigwe’s wife), and their first son Chizi, tragically lost their lives in the accident.
In an Instagram tribute posted on Monday, Bola Atta, the CEO of UBA Foundation, extends her heartfelt condolences and encourages the public to offer prayers for the grieving widow. She writes, “Titi darling, it’s your birthday today, and even though you are not celebrating, I hope everyone who sees this post will say a prayer for you and remember the deep love you and Bimbo share ❤️❤️ May he rest in God’s bosom until you both meet again.”
Abimbola Ogunbanjo, renowned as the group chairman of NGX Group, played a pivotal role in the evolution of the non-operating holding company, which emerged from the demutualization of The Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) between 2021 and 2022.
Born into the illustrious family of corporate lawyer and industrialist Chris Ogunbanjo and his wife Hilda, Abimbola Ogunbanjo continued the family’s legacy by pursuing a career in law. His significant contributions to the development of capital markets and corporate law were duly recognized when ex-President Muhammadu Buhari conferred upon him the national honor of Officer of the Order of the Federal Republic (OFR) on October 11, 2022, acknowledging his outstanding virtues and services to Nigeria.
