Actress Chioma Chukwuka has expressed her disappointment with the organisers of the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards (AMVCA), calling out what she perceives as a lack of respect.
In a now-deleted Instagram post, the talented Gangs of Lagos actress recounted an incident where she received a call from an AMVCA representative asking her to personally collect her ticket for the upcoming event on Saturday.
Feeling disrespected by this request, Chioma opted not to answer the subsequent call from the representative for two reasons: Firstly, she was visibly upset and irritated by the initial phone conversation. Secondly, her focus was required on her production set.
Venting her frustration, Chioma voiced her dismay at what she sees as a disregard for industry practitioners by Africa Magic. With over 25 years of hard work and dedication to Nollywood, she feels her invitation should have been handled with more consideration and professionalism.
Chioma’s message underscores the importance of respecting the contributions of industry veterans and ensuring that all practitioners are treated with the dignity they deserve.
