The Nasarawa State Government has finalized plans to implement a centralized, computerized database for all land-related information to enhance security and streamline land administration.
Commissioner for Lands and Urban Development, Umaru Tanko-Tunga, made this known during a press briefing in Lafia on Saturday. He emphasized that the initiative is designed to safeguard land ownership for all residents while driving effective urban development across the state.
Having recently assumed office under Governor Abdullahi Sule’s administration, Tanko-Tunga outlined three key action plans for the ministry: Digital Transformation, Accelerated Urban Development, and Public-Private Partnership (PPP).
He instructed departmental heads to submit innovative proposals within a week to facilitate the digitization framework. According to him, technology is crucial in eliminating bureaucratic delays and improving service delivery.
- Digital Transformation involves full automation of land records, streamlined approval processes, and a centralized database for improved efficiency.
- Accelerated Urban Development focuses on structured growth, starting with sectoral planning for Lafia’s eastern bypass corridor to enhance livability.
- Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) will foster collaboration to advance urban development and enhance service delivery.
Tanko-Tunga urged ministry staff and residents to support these reforms, ensuring their successful implementation.
Meanwhile, the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Khalid Adamu, pledged his commitment to supporting the commissioner’s vision for improved land administration and urban development in Nasarawa State.
