The family of the late former General Secretary of the National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG), Frank Kokori, has unveiled plans for his burial following his demise on December 7, 2023, the day he turned 80, after a prolonged illness.
In an official statement released by the planning committee on behalf of the grieving family, Felix Ayanruoh, the alternate chairman, conveyed the details of the burial arrangements. The statement, co-signed by Kayode Komolafe (Chairman of the Media Sub-Committee), Ebenezer Adurokiya (Secretary), and Kive Kokori (son of the deceased), outlined the scheduled events.
The burial ceremony is scheduled to take place from March 4 to 10, 2024. The committee revealed that the proceedings would commence with a symposium/lecture and a day of tributes on March 4 at the NAF Conference Centre, Abuja. Dignitaries such as President Bola Tinubu, top government officials, leaders of labor unions, members of the civil society, and the general public are expected to attend this event.
On Thursday, March 7, 2024, the body of the late octogenarian will be laid in state, accompanied by a service of songs and a wake at his Ovu residence in Delta State. The funeral service is scheduled for Friday, March 8, 2024, followed promptly by interment, and a reception with entertainment for guests.
The seven-day burial ceremony will conclude on Sunday, March 10, 2024, with a church thanksgiving service, inviting family members, friends, and well-wishers to join in expressing gratitude.
