Hon. Ibrahim Mohammed, the House of Representatives member for Birnin Kebbi/Kalgo/Bunza Federal Constituency, has denounced the brutal killing of travelers in Uromi, Esan North-East Local Government Area of Edo State, calling for swift justice against the perpetrators.
In a statement on Saturday, Mohammed described the attack as a “senseless and tragic act” that threatens the core values of justice, unity, and peace in Nigeria.
“It is deeply disturbing that innocent individuals were targeted and brutally murdered based on false accusations. Such acts of mob violence must not be tolerated. I call on security agencies to launch a thorough investigation, bring those responsible to justice, and implement measures to prevent future occurrences,” he said.
Offering his heartfelt condolences to the grieving families, the lawmaker prayed for the victims’ souls and urged Nigerians to unite in building a safer and more just society.
The incident has ignited nationwide outrage, with growing demands for urgent action against the rising wave of jungle justice. Legal experts and human rights advocates stress the need for stronger law enforcement against mob violence, warning that failure to act decisively could further undermine public trust in Nigeria’s justice system.
