At the Nigeria Police Awards and Commendations Ceremony, Senate President Godswill Akpabio urged Inspector General Kayode Egbetokun to root out corrupt officers. He praised the event, affirming the National Assembly’s support for enhancing Nigeria’s security through effective policing.

Akpabio emphasized the importance of recognizing officers’ sacrifices while tackling internal challenges within the force. He highlighted the need to address evolving crime landscapes and the importance of weeding out corrupt elements. Akpabio pledged the National Assembly’s commitment to providing legislative support and resources for improved policing.

Acknowledging the fallen heroes, Akpabio presented posthumous awards to officers who lost their lives in the line of duty. Vice President Kashim Shettima applauded the Senate President and the Kano State Governor for their compassion toward the bereaved families, emphasizing the importance of such gestures in honoring the sacrifices of law enforcement officers.
