An intelligence report obtained by YEPS from a military source in the intelligence unit has disclosed a planned kidnapping operation between kidnappers in Karu, near Abuja, and Kabusa in the Federal Capital Territory. The report, titled “Plan by armed bandits to attack yet-to-be-identified location around the FCT, Abuja,” indicates that the kidnapping operation is scheduled for either Tuesday or January 17, 2024.

The report reveals that a suspected kidnapper in Karu called an associate, suspected to be an informant in Kabusa, inquiring about the house they plan to attack. The conversation indicated the involvement of other gang members in the operation, set to occur on the mentioned dates.

The report emphasizes the rise in kidnapping activities in and around the FCT, with kidnapping syndicates being invited by informants residing in the communities. The document recommends urgent action to curb the menace, suggesting collaboration with the FCT Police Command and tactical teams to raise dedicated teams for countering armed bandits infiltrating specific locations.
