Comedian Ayo Makun, popularly known as AY, has officially lodged a complaint with the Nigerian Police against content creator Agozi Samuel. In the petition dated January 24, AY, through his legal representatives, accused Agozi of criminal defamation and cyberstalking. The comedian has requested the arrest and prosecution of Agozi for spreading false and baseless allegations.
Agozi, who uses the name Agozi Comedy on Facebook, had claimed that AY was involved in an extramarital affair with May Edochie, the estranged wife of actor Yul Edochie. The content creator alleged that AY was responsible for the marital crisis between Yul and May.
The petition described Agozi’s statements as knowingly false and intentionally defamatory. AY’s legal team cited specific claims made by Agozi in a video, where he accused the comedian of causing the separation between Yul Edochie and May.
The petition read, “The said publication alleges that our client is involved in an extramarital affair with one May Edochie, the wife of Yul Edochie, and that our client was responsible for the marital crisis between May and her husband.”
AY, in his petition, emphasized the detrimental impact of these false accusations on his brand, personal life, career, integrity, and reputation. He stated that the allegations have caused significant harm among friends, business associates, and the general public.
The comedian, who is 52 years old, urged the Delta State police to promptly investigate and apprehend Agozi Samuel. AY provided evidence of defamation and cyberbullying to support his case.
It’s worth noting that AY and his wife have been supportive of May Yul-Edochie since the troubles in her marriage began.
