Logistical challenges have delayed the start of the Edo State governorship election in parts of the Edo South Senatorial District, with election materials and officials still at the Registration Area Centre (RAC) well past 8 a.m. on Saturday.
Some ad hoc staff voiced their frustration over unpaid wages, refusing to proceed to their designated polling stations until they were compensated. Others confirmed they had already been paid but were still held back due to the overall disorganization.
At polling units in Oba Market, Zebayo Street, and Plymouth Road, there was no sign of electoral activity, as materials and officials had yet to arrive. The polling stations lacked visible identification markers, adding to the confusion. Even police officers stationed at these locations were seen searching for their assigned units, further illustrating the logistical difficulties plaguing the election’s commencement.
