Transcorp Group’s Chairman, Tony Elumelu, has responded with deep sorrow to the tragic passing of Access Holdings Plc’s CEO, Herbert Wigwe, and former Nigerian Exchange Group Chairman, Abimbola Ogunbanjo, in a helicopter crash on February 9 in the United States.
Expressing his heartfelt sentiments in a social media tribute titled ‘Tribute to Great Lights – True Patriots’, Elumelu honored the memory of Wigwe and Ogunbanjo, highlighting their immense contributions to Africa’s financial landscape.
Elumelu conveyed, “The news of Herbert Wigwe’s and Bimbo Ogunbanjo’s untimely passing is truly heart-wrenching. Africa mourns the loss of two exceptional minds. Their dedication to driving Nigeria’s progress was inspiring.”
He praised Wigwe’s commitment to advancing the banking sector through Access Holdings and acknowledged Ogunbanjo’s distinguished tenure as Group Chairman of the NGX, emphasizing their significant impact on the industry.
Elumelu reflected, “Both will be deeply missed. Their leadership and entrepreneurial spirit will continue to inspire millions.”
