In a decisive blow against terrorism in the North-East, the air component of Operation Hadarin Kai (OPHK) conducted precision airstrikes on the hideouts of ISWAP terrorists within Kolleram village along Lake Chad. The strikes, executed on April 13, resulted in the neutralization of over 30 fighters, including senior commanders such as Ali Dawud, Bakura Fallujah, and Mallam Ari.
According to AVM Edward Gabkwet, Director of Public Relations and Information for the Nigerian Air Force, the airstrikes also destroyed numerous vehicles, motorcycles, and logistical assets, severely hampering the terrorists’ operational capabilities. Additionally, a key facility serving as a hub for the insurgents’ food processing activities was effectively obliterated, impacting their ability to sustain themselves.
Gabkwet emphasized the NAF’s commitment to eradicating terrorism and ensuring the safety of Nigerian citizens. He noted that these airstrikes, coupled with ground efforts in the Lake Chad flank, have significantly degraded ISWAP’s capabilities in the region, marking a crucial step forward in Nigeria’s fight against terrorism.
