Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central, has applauded the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for rejecting attempts by certain groups and individuals to recall her from the Senate.
Expressing gratitude to the electoral body for upholding constitutional justice, the Senator condemned what she described as pressure from “undemocratic elements” in Kogi and the Senate.
Her statement followed INEC’s official declaration that the recall petition failed to meet the constitutional requirements and, as such, would not be processed further.
In a statement released by her media team on Thursday, Akpoti-Uduaghan dismissed the recall attempt as a “fabricated scheme” orchestrated by politically sponsored groups and individuals. She commended INEC for standing firm against manipulation and reaffirming its independence.
Taking a swipe at former Governor Yahaya Bello and others she accused of trying to suppress her political influence, the Senator stated:
“God has silenced the anti-democratic forces behind this failed recall attempt, including one of the most wanted men by the EFCC, former Governor Yahaya Bello. I was never afraid because I serve a God that never fails, and I have the unwavering support of my people.”
She hailed INEC’s verdict as a triumph of justice over injustice, emphasizing that the commission had proven its independence by thwarting what she called “agents of darkness.”
“To God be the glory, we have prevailed once again. This outcome is yet another victory against those who thrive on backdoor politics—manipulators, election riggers, and merchants of violence in Kogi Central and beyond. Let it be known that their time in politics is running out. I remain committed to defending the oppressed and working towards a better Nigeria.”
