Subscribers of Globacom might face a disruption in making calls to MTN lines soon, as interconnect charges remain unsettled, as stated by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) in a public notice signed by Reuben Muoka, Director of the Public Affairs Department, on Monday.
The notice explained that the NCC granted partial approval for disconnecting Globacom from MTN Nigeria Communications Plc. Globacom had been informed of MTN’s application and given an opportunity to respond.
The NCC, after examining the application and the circumstances of non-payment, concluded that Globacom lacked sufficient and justifiable reasons for failing to settle the interconnect charges.
According to the notice, after 10 days from the date of issuance, Globacom subscribers will no longer be able to initiate calls to MTN numbers but can still receive calls. The partial disconnection allows for inbound calls to the Globacom network.
