In a proactive initiative to combat the rising issue of drug abuse in Kano, the Nigerian Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has formed strategic alliances with local community organizations, including the Rano Apex Development Association, Rano Ce A Gabanmu Development Association, and the Rano Emirate Council.
During a recent courtesy visit to the Emir of Rano, Muhammad Umaru, Kano State NDLEA Commandant Ahmed Ahmed emphasized the urgent need for collaborative efforts to tackle the increasing problem of substance abuse in the region. He pointed out the concerning trends and the importance of unity in addressing this critical issue.
Muhd. Kabir, the Area Commander overseeing Rano, Bunkure, Kibiya, and Garko, echoed these sentiments, stating, “We are dedicated to addressing the alarming use of Fortwin injections and marijuana in the Rano area. This partnership will enhance our capacity to prevent drug abuse and facilitate rehabilitation efforts.”
Kabir also announced plans for a new rehabilitation center in the Rano local government area and a pre-election drug awareness campaign to ensure a drug-free environment ahead of the upcoming local government elections.
Emir Muhd Umaru pledged his support for the NDLEA’s mission, committing to assist in efforts to combat the escalating drug abuse problem in the community.
Rabiu Khalil Kura, Zonal Information Officer for Rano, noted that this visit aims to strengthen the partnership between the NDLEA and the Emirate, fostering a united front against substance abuse in Kano State. This collaboration marks a significant step towards promoting awareness and creating a healthier community.
