Oyo State dispatches security leaders following an explosion in Ibadan

In a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Dotun Oyelade, it was revealed that Governor Seyi Makinde has taken prompt action by deploying all security chiefs, including para-military chiefs and fire operatives, to the explosion site.

The statement emphasized, “Residents of Ibadan and immediate environs experienced an uncommon explosion about 8 pm this evening. There are various interpretations of the incident but it is important for us to state categorically that the state government has taken over and is in full control of the unfortunate occurrence to mitigate the incident.”

Governor Seyi Makinde has ensured the deployment of security service chiefs and other relevant personnel to address any potential fallout from the explosion. The statement concluded by assuring citizens that their interests are being attended to.

Reports indicate that the explosion had an impact on the School of Nursing and the University College Hospital. Residents in various areas, including Ologuneru, Owalla, Isokan, Ekerin, Eleyele, Apete, Bodija, Obasa, Mokola, Oke Itunu, Barracks, and Gbaremu, reported feeling the effects of the explosion.
