Emmanuel Orekoya, a Pastor associated with the Redeemed Christian Church of God, stood in the dock of the Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court, facing grave accusations. The charges against him, brought forth by the Lagos State Government, include two counts of unlawful sexual intercourse and sexual assault.
The defendant is facing two counts of unlawful sexual intercourse and sexual assault preferred against him by the Lagos State Government.
It was also gathered that the defendant in the process of having sexual intercourse with his daughter, allegedly impregnated her.
During the arraignment, the state’s prosecution counsel, Mrs. Abimbola Abolade, presented the disturbing details of the alleged offenses to the court. According to Abolade, the incidents occurred back in 2017 at Jacob Adeleye Street, Odoeran, Itire area of Lagos State. The accusations paint a troubling picture of familial betrayal and abuse, shaking the community and sparking widespread condemnation.
According to the prosecutor, Orekoya sexually assaulted the victim, by inserting his finger inside her vagina and inserting his penis inside her mouth.
The prosecutor also said, the offences Orekoya committed contravened Section 137 of the criminal law of Lagos State 2015.
However, the defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges laid against him.
Justice Soladoye adjourned the case till April 17, 2024, for the commencement of trial.
