Police in Anambra State conducted raids on hideouts used by insurgents and successfully recovered a significant amount of ammunition

The Anambra State Police Command has declared an all-out hunt for the insurgents responsible for the recent attacks on two police stations in the state. Following the brazen assault on the Police Divisional Headquarters in Nneni, Anaocha Local Government Area, where assailants set the building ablaze with explosive devices, law enforcement agencies have ramped up efforts to apprehend the perpetrators.

According to reports, the hoodlums attempted to free inmates during the attack but were thwarted by vigilant police officers on duty. In response to these attacks, the joint security force, under the directive of the state Commissioner of Police, CP Aderemi Adeoye, launched extensive operations to track down the culprits.

In a statement released by the command’s spokesman, Tochukwu Ikenga, it was revealed that the manhunt has been extended to various areas, including Obofia Forest, Aguluezuchukwu, and Ogboji. The joint security force, operating from a highly mobile Forward Operating Base, engaged the insurgents in fierce combat, resulting in the destruction of their camps.

During the operations, a significant cache of weapons, including high-caliber ammunition, cartridges, and a locally fabricated rocket launcher, was recovered. Additionally, police uniforms and an unregistered Ford pick-up truck were seized from the insurgents.

CP Aderemi Adeoye has reiterated the commitment of law enforcement to ensure the complete eradication of insurgency from Anambra State. He has urged the troops and personnel involved in the operations to maintain the momentum until the state is entirely free from the threat of guerrilla attacks by insurgents.
