Singer Michael Adebayo Olayinka, popularly known as Ruger, has announced his departure from Jonzing World, the label owned by D’Prince, the brother of music mogul Don Jazzy. Ruger shared the news with his fans on Instagram, revealing that he is launching his own label called Blown Boy.
In his heartfelt post, Ruger expressed gratitude to Jonzing World and D’Prince for believing in him and guiding him on his musical journey. He acknowledged the support and opportunities he received during his time with the label, stating that while it is sad to part ways, he trusts in God’s plan for his future. At just 24 years old, Ruger rose to prominence with his hit song ‘Bounce’ after signing with Jonzing World in 2021. He released his debut EP, Pandemic, the same year, captivating audiences with his unique sound and style.
Jonzing World, founded by D’Prince in 2019, has been instrumental in launching the careers of emerging artists, including Rema, who achieved international acclaim under the label. The collaboration ‘One Shirt’, featuring Ruger, D’Prince, and Rema, showcased the label’s commitment to nurturing talent and producing chart-topping hits.
