In a decisive move, troops from the One-Division Nigerian Army, in collaboration with Operation Whirl Punch, have dealt a significant blow to terrorist elements in Giwa Local Government Area of Kaduna State. Six terrorists met their end in a fierce confrontation, while three others were apprehended in a well-coordinated operation.

The Kaduna State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, revealed these developments on Thursday, withholding specific details of the operation’s timing. According to Aruwan, responding to credible intelligence on terrorist activities, the troops initiated a targeted patrol to the Galadimawa area in Giwa LG.

Their efforts yielded results when insurgents hastily abandoned a herd of rustled cattle upon encountering the troops at Sabon Sara village. The recovered cattle were promptly returned to the locals, signaling the troops’ commitment to restoring normalcy.

A skirmish ensued at the Market Square of Galadimawa, resulting in the elimination of six insurgents and the apprehension of three suspected collaborators. The recovery of two motorcycles and four mobile phones further crippled the terrorists’ logistical support.

Governor Uba Sani commended the troops’ bravery, attributing the success to the leadership of Maj-Gen. MLD Saraso, the General Officer Commanding 1 Division, Nigerian Army, and Commander of Operation Whirl Punch. He emphasized the need for sustained efforts in dismantling criminal networks, urging the security forces to conduct thorough investigations.
