Hannatu Musa Musawa, the Minister of Art, Culture, and Creative Economy, has expressed appreciation for the organizers of the upcoming Women Creatives Summit 2024, commending their initiative in empowering women through skills and creative acquisition. The minister made these remarks during a visit by the Terra Culture Academy for Arts and Business Day Media Foundation, who sought collaboration for the summit.
Musawa acknowledged the organizers for their forward-thinking approach in recognizing the creative industry as a pivotal driver in addressing youth unemployment and empowerment. She praised their impactful initiatives, including talent discovery, which contributes significantly to Nigeria’s vibrant creative landscape.
In expressing her enthusiasm, Musawa stated, “I extend my warmest greetings to the organizing team for the Women Creative Summit for this important initiative because I am very passionate about gender mainstreaming across the nexus of the Creative Economy.” She emphasized the Ministry’s support for such initiatives, appreciating the opportunity to use the summit to inform the public about the Ministry’s strategic initiatives and policy direction.
The minister also emphasized the Ministry’s commitment to collaborating and exploring avenues to enhance the capacity of emerging talents, especially women within the industry.
Imal Silva, the Project Coordinator of the 2024 Women Creatives Summit, outlined the summit’s objectives, seeking the Ministry’s approval, collaboration, and support for its successful organization. Silva explained that the summit aims to promote the Creative Economy and women’s contributions to it, amplifying the voices, talents, and stories of women in the creative industry. Scheduled for June, the conference intends to explore the multifaceted nature of creativity among women, highlighting their innovative approaches, challenges, and successes.
