The FCT Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board (FCT-MPWB) has commenced the disbursement of refunds for services not rendered to pilgrims who participated in the 2023 Hajj exercise.
Speaking in Abuja on Thursday, the board’s Public Relations Officer, Malam Muhammad Lawal, reassured pilgrims that their refunds were secure and being processed diligently.
Lawal highlighted that, under the leadership of Malam Kadiri Edah, the board established a verification committee in 2024 to oversee the refund process. The committee’s primary task has been to verify international passports stamped by Saudi Arabian immigration authorities, alongside NIN and other essential documents to confirm each pilgrim’s participation.
“To maintain transparency, the committee requires pilgrims to present their documents personally—third-party submissions are not allowed,” Lawal emphasized.
With over 4,000 pilgrims having taken part in the 2023 Hajj, the board revealed that out of the 2,259 pilgrims who have submitted their documents so far, 1,937 have successfully received their refunds, while the remaining 322 applications are still being processed.
Lawal urged all eligible pilgrims to submit their necessary documents promptly, as the refund disbursement is still ongoing.
