The Lagos State government has provided an update on the autopsy investigation concerning the untimely demise of the acclaimed singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, known by his stage name MohBad.
Dr. Richard Somiari, the Director of Lagos State DNA and Forensic Centre, disclosed during a coroner’s inquest on Wednesday that the autopsy results for the late artist would be finalized within the next three to four weeks.
Testifying before the coroner, Magistrate Adedayo Shotobi, Somiari addressed queries from the defense counsel during the inquest proceedings.
MohBad, aged 27, passed away on September 12, 2023, triggering widespread discussions and debates nationwide, leading to the initiation of a coroner’s inquest by the Lagos State Government.
Commencing on October 13, 2023, the inquest convenes at the Ikorodu Magistrates’ Court.
Somiari emphasized the thoroughness of the autopsy process, stating, “We explored various possibilities, including the examination for potential poisoning, as the precise cause of MohBad’s death was not initially determined.”
He further assured the public regarding the meticulous handling and monitoring of the autopsy samples, highlighting stringent security measures in place to safeguard the integrity of the results.
“Our facilities ensure the safe storage of items and the secure handling of results. Rigorous protocols are implemented to oversee the transportation of samples abroad,” Somiari affirmed.
