Mrs. Tinubu expressed optimism about 2024, envisioning a year filled with “peace, progress, prosperity, and greater achievements” for all Nigerians.<\/p>\n
Acknowledging the efforts and support of governors’ wives in 2023, she commended them and urged continued dedication to addressing the needs of vulnerable populations in their respective states. Mrs. Tinubu emphasized that the current hardship is temporary and will soon fade away.<\/p>\n
Discussing her pet project, the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), the first lady outlined the Women Agricultural Support Programme (WASP), which aims to empower 20 farmers each from five states in the South East Zone. Each farmer will receive N500,000, contributing to a total draft of N10 million distributed among five RHI states’ coordinators.<\/p>\n
In collaboration with the National Agricultural Land Development Authority, RHI will further support an additional 80 female farmers from each state through training, capacity building, and agricultural inputs. Mrs. Tinubu assured that the initiative would purchase all produce from the farms after harvest.<\/p>\n
Additionally, she announced plans to launch the Young Farmers Club in public schools nationwide to promote farming among the youth. Schools with the best farms will be identified, and prizes, such as school renovations, science laboratory equipment, ICT resources, and library upgrades, will be awarded.<\/p>\n
