Former Rivers State governor, Rotimi Amaechi, has weighed in on the ongoing political crisis between suspended governor Siminalayi Fubara and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, claiming the dispute boils down to money-sharing issues.
Speaking in an interview with DW on Saturday, Amaechi did not mince words, stating that the clash between the two political heavyweights has nothing to do with governance but rather financial control.
“The fight between the current governor of Rivers State and the FCT minister is about sharing money. If not, what exactly is the quarrel?” Amaechi questioned.
He further criticized the lack of public scrutiny on the matter, expressing disappointment that Nigerians seem unbothered by corruption.
“Nigerians don’t seem to dislike corruption anymore. I haven’t seen anyone on the streets demanding answers. Can both of them come out and publicly explain what the real issue is?” he added.
Amaechi also took a swipe at President Bola Tinubu’s intervention in the crisis, calling the emergency ruling unconstitutional.
As tensions continue to rise in Rivers State, all eyes are on the key players to see whether they will directly address these allegations or continue their political standoff behind closed doors.
