The All Progressives Congress (APC) has welcomed the ruling of the Edo State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal, which upheld Governor Monday Okpebholo’s electoral victory, calling it a reaffirmation of the people’s mandate.
In a statement on Thursday, APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, commended the judiciary for delivering what he described as a well-founded and objective judgment.
The tribunal, in a unanimous decision on Wednesday, dismissed the petition filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, Asue Ighodalo, ruling that they failed to substantiate claims of over-voting.
Reacting to the verdict, the APC extended its congratulations to Governor Okpebholo and his deputy, Dennis Idahosa, urging them to intensify their efforts in delivering good governance to the people of Edo State.
“This judgment is a landmark victory that reinforces the overwhelming support Governor Okpebholo received in the September 21, 2024, election,” Morka stated. “It is a testament to the will of Edo State voters and a reflection of a thriving democracy.”
The APC further praised the independence and professionalism of the judiciary, emphasizing its role in upholding democratic principles and ensuring electoral integrity.
The party also expressed gratitude to the people of Edo State for their steadfast support and patience throughout the legal process.
Morka added, “This well-earned victory will inspire Governor Okpebholo to further accelerate the spread of good governance across Edo State. We urge him to continue transforming the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu into tangible benefits for the people.”
He also commended President Tinubu for his exemplary leadership, describing him as a visionary force behind the party’s successes.
With the legal battle settled, the APC called for unity and cooperation in driving the state toward greater development and prosperity.
