Jimmy Odukoya expresses disappointment over Nigeria’s loss to Cote d’Ivoire

Lead pastor Jimmy Odukoya of the Fountain of Life Church expressed unwavering pride in the Nigerian Super Eagles despite their defeat to Cote d’Ivoire in the 2023 AFCON final.

In a thrilling match, the Elephants emerged victorious with a 2-1 win over the Super Eagles, overturning a first-half lead secured by William Troost-Ekong’s header.

Following the game, Odukoya, who had been fervently leading social media prayers for the Eagles throughout the tournament, took to Instagram to offer words of encouragement to the team.

In a posted video, the cleric remarked, “This wasn’t the outcome we hoped for, but it’s okay. We are still Nigerians. They cannot bring us shame. Today, the elephants may be celebrating, but the Eagles will rise again.”

He continued, “To the Super Eagles, we are immensely proud of you. Despite the challenges, you provided us with moments of hope, joy, and unity as a nation.”
