The Oloja of Imoru Community in Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State, Oba Charles Basorun, has urged the Federal and State Governments to take swift action against illegal mining operations ravaging his community, YEPS News has gathered.

The monarch alleged that the illicit activities were being facilitated by certain security agents, whom he accused of shielding the illegal miners rather than enforcing the law. Speaking with journalists in Akure on Wednesday, Oba Basorun described the situation as alarming, saying the heavy presence of security operatives had left residents in a constant state of fear and anxiety.

“We have credible intelligence, gathered through YEPS News sources, indicating that a security chief intends to send more operatives to the site in the coming days. This move could escalate tensions, leading to potential confrontations and possible loss of lives,” he warned.
